A case of chronic fatigue syndrome

Liu was a 27 year old male who visited us on June 5, 2016.
The patient complained of fatigue and listlessness for about half a month.
About half a mouth ago, the patient experienced fatigue, listlessness, weak limb and sleepiness, but appetite, urination and defecation were normal. Though western and Chinese medicines had been administered but failed.
The patient was fat. his pulse and tongue were normal. He was diagnosed as chronic fatigue syndrome and treated with the modified decoction of Gegen with the following ingredients: gegen 30g, mahuang6g, guizhi15g, gancao15g, shengjiang15g, dazao10g, wuweizi30g, xianmao10g, xianlingpi15g, xianhecao100g, shichangpu15g, hongshen10g, huangqi60g, fuling30g.
The above herbal medicine was made into a decoction for oral intake. After 10 doses of the decoction were taken, all of his symptoms disappeared without trace.
Remark: a Japanese study finds that Gegen has the effects of refreshing and combating fatigue. Xianmao, xianlingpi and xianhecao are collectively known as the decoction of three faeries, which can be used to treat qi deficiency. Wuweizi and shichangpu work to refresh and reinforce the brain. In my practice, I often use the formula to treat this disorder with good result.

刘某是一位27岁男性，2016年6月5日初诊。患者抱怨疲劳和精神萎靡约半个月。大约半月前，患者经历疲劳，无精神，肢体虚弱和嗜睡，但食欲，排尿和排便正常。虽经中西医治疗，但无效。

病人体胖，舌脉正常。诊为慢性疲劳综合症，处方葛根汤加减：葛根30g，麻黄6g，桂枝15g，甘草15g，生姜15g，大枣10g，五味子30g，仙茅10g，仙灵脾15g，仙鹤草100g，石菖蒲15g，红参10g，黄芪60g，茯苓30g。

将上述草药制成口服煎剂，服用10剂后，全部症状消失无踪。

备注：日本的一项研究发现，葛根具有提神和抗疲劳的作用。仙茅与仙灵脾、仙鹤草合用组成三仙汤，可用于治疗气虚。五味子和石菖蒲的作用是提神和强脑。在我的实践中，我常用此组合来治疗这种疾病，效果很好。
